Yorkie Terriers are very fascinating, spontaneous, and cute little babies. I have 3 myself and love them so very much. They are very active and require a lot of attention. They are super cute and love to be cuddled, and love being petted constantly.
They are also terriers which means they go after such as: mice, rats, bugs,, chipmunks, and squirrels. But I am highly against any of these I listed because it can make them sick. And plus I love squirrels. So I keep mine from catching these things and if they do I will be sure to take them away from them.
These precious babies can also be at dog shows, specially if their hair is neat and kept well they can actually win metals. They are also easy to train but they do have tempers. They sometimes can get upset with certain things and be kind of grumpy. So find out what your furr-baby loves to do and doesn't before entering in dog shows.
Always want to make sure you feed them properly. They can become over weight and have health issues if not taking care of properly. Always want to look for natural foods and treats as much as possible and don't over feed even though they love to eat. But do keep water down for them because like small dogs they can become easily dehydrated. So always keep water down.
Also Yorkie Terriers need regular exercise, not to much to over exert them but just enough to keep them healthy and in shape. They are also prone to joint pains do to jumping on high places like: couches, beds, chairs, and anything you see the is taller than them standing.
Very important to keep them well exercised and keep their joints healthy.
They are also very protective over their territory such as: family, babies, and their babies, as well as toys, and yards. Like if they have a specific spot they enjoy in a yard and another animal has been there, they go ham. So also remember they are very protective and they are also really good dog alarms. They will let you know if someone is in your yard or even near you.
Having yorkie terriers around also you will notice they can be healing for you. Let me explain:
When you are sad like most dogs, yorkie terriers will comfort you and help you to stop being sad. They can feel emotions and when we are upset.
They can be also trained to be service dogs because they can help people with depression, anxiety, or any other mental illnesses. Did you know that dog can as well have mental illnesses that we may not know about? Its true, I know because one of my furr-babies have anxiety, and she freaks out really bad at times. Also if my anxiety gets up, she will as well start being upset. So I always try and cope with it and stay calm as much as possible and she will actually do the same.
Yorkie Terriers are really smart, they know things and you would swear they actually understand you. Which they do, they just can't talk like we can. But they can try and talk by barking and whimpering as they do.
They also love small toys that are easy to put in their mouths. My babies have a toy basket filled with so many toys until it's ridiculous. But one thing I have noticed out of all their toys big and little, they love the tiny toys made for tea cup dogs. They will toss them up in the air and dash under and turn around and attack them tiny toys. It's super cute to watch and video.
Yorkie Terriers are also very great traveling size dogs. You can buy strollers to push them in and bags to tote them. They are little enough that you can carry them almost anywhere that allows dogs. They also can be taught very well to behave than most dogs. The also are tiny enough to site in a dog car seat in your vehicle and easy to maintain in a vehicle. May need help looking out the window while they travel with you but they enjoy it!
These little companions will keep you on your toes and will have you laughing majority of the time. They are so cute, and so spontaneous. They are full of energy but do require cat nap rest in between the hours of the day. But super excited and hyper little fluff balls. Who wouldn't want one?
